Anyone watching the weather channel in the U.S. has probably heard about the widespread damage and power outages from last Thursday's wind storm.  Although they likely hyped it, this has been a pretty serious matter.  Coming from someone who has spent the past 2 years living through 4 major hurricanes, this has been a bit of a bigger pain in the ass.  Turns out, Florida Power and Light knows how to deal with widespread power outages a lot better than the local power company here.  Well, it stands to reason that they have had a lot more experience dealing with it, but the terrain here is much more difficult... so in the end I guess they are doing their best to hook everybody back up.   Nevertheless, if you haven't guessed yet, I am still without power.  I finally took the family and checked in to a hotel in a part of town where life goes on normally.  I have no idea when I will have power back... which really sucks.  So far, I am doing fine... the family is fine... and we are more inconvenienced than anything. 

 

Funny side note... the espresso huts that I mentioned in my previous post turned out to be a bit of an oasis for the coffee lover in me.  Turns out most of them run on generator power... and the coffee is good.  I have not been able to validate Bill H's claim from his comment on my previous post...
